Very good, but some annoying bugs

A very good defend-your-something game. The music was annoying but I suppose it was to keep the size small (this fits in 200KB). I've got stuck at some point though... the level would not complete because one of the "little fanboys" didn't show up. Maybe you could add an option to "give up" attributing the damage of remaining units (i.e. in my case, I would get damage for one little fanboy but be able to continue).

Good effort but needs improvement

That's a pretty cool idea for a game, but your interface needs to be improved. For example, if you select basic attacks with the keyboard, one would expect to use keys to select the rest (not the mouse). You could script a "cursor" that moves to the sub selection by choosing "enter" or "right". Anyways keep working on this as you are on the right track!

very good

Very funny and makes you want to try all the different endings. The first time I've played this it seemed dead easy but... it wasn't :-)
This would be fabulous with better graphics, but it's hard enough to make a game with several options like this. Good job.

Great use of the API

This game is a fantastic example of how to use API functions for an oldschool look (reminds me of the LOGO days). The game itself looks very polished and feels tightly coded (very responsive). An example for other Flash game makers, good job!

A fantastic rendition of a classic genre

This is an amazing game. The amount of attention to detail in here is not something you see coming through the portal every day.

You've taken the genre of the space shooter (a la Galaga) and added most of the modern features gamers are now used to: weapon upgrades, bosses, save feature, a store, and even (the defining feature for me) a story mode!

The name of the game obviously comes from the art style choice. The result is a bit bizarre (in a good way!) and manages to convey the feeling of retrogaming pretty well. All enemies have their own behavior and some force you to think a little ahead when buying weapons.

Sound is a little repetitive, but this goes well with the game style. I would have also made the mouse button an alternative fire button - freeing up the keyboard for movement (some keyboards, like mine, have a hardware limitation on how many keys you can press at once). Minor things really... I have to look far to find any issue with this submission!

Verdict, two very enthusiastic thumbs up, and a 5 from me!

a suggestion

Don't try to reinvent the wheel... From your comments I see this is an attempt to replicate MS Paint in Actionscript. This is pretty hard and you are going to end with something most users have anyway. I would recommend that you add a twist to it. Like checking how close you drew to a template (hard to do, I know). OTOH, if you want to take it the Paint route and learn relevant scripting, you could try scripting a color palette that offers much more colors (changing the hex values).

Thank you for this very informative review, i will take your ideas into consideration.

A snake game with a twist.

I liked the design and the priciple of the game. A bit too dependant on randomness though (e.g. if an obstacle appears just in front of you, not much you can do). I would add levels, that have already set obstacles (e.g. large walls), and maybe different areas that spawn different types of obstacles.

Easily automatable

My gripe with this is that you could easily actionscript the whole thing and then just have to update the text. Look up some tutorials on how to control TextFields with script, then add logic to test which answer is correct.
If you do it this way, you could come up with a game with hundreds of questions with no more additional effort than looking up new text.
Also fix those buttons - add a hit area behind them so it will work if you click anywhere inside a letter (e.g. inside an "o").

A very nice little game.

Liked it a lot. Great idea, tightly coded, loved the wiggling paddle.

Needs better buttons

Add a hit area to your buttons, a rectangle larger that the text or something. As it is, you need to click on the exact font graphic to get it working.

work. sleep. code. repeat.
